HENRI
PRIZE
Welcome to the exhibition of
short-listed works for the
inaugural
Adrian Henri Prize
for Poetry in Art
.
As part of Wenlock Poetry Festival
this unique prize sets out to
celebrate the fact that poetry and
visual arts are thriving, not just in
major cities but also in the country-
side where, for centuries, artists
and poets have been inspired by
the landscape and rural industry.
We have been delighted by the
number of entries for this first
Prize and by their variety – from
ceramics, contemporary medals
and textiles to sculpture and
painting – it makes for a
stimulating, vibrant exhibition.
Prize Judges
Carol Ann Duffy,
Catherine Marcangeli, Willy
Russell
and
Stephen Raw
have
selected works which meet the aims,
objectives and criteria of the
competition in a most inspiring way.
We are truly grateful to Anna
Dreda and Carol Ann Duffy who
conceived the idea of a prize in
honour of Adrian Henri and in
particular we would like to thank
the generous sponsor who has
donated the £10,000 prize money.
We would also like to thank all of
those involved fromentrants to
sponsors, advertisers and
supporters and judges, who have
kindly given their time and who
have made this exciting new arts
prize possible.
